TDF Film Podcast 47 - The Great British Horror
Also available on: iTunes | stitcher
Its become something of a tradition here at The Digital Fix to record a special horror-themed podcast (or ten) for Halloween, so this year were tackling a topic thats close to the heart of our esteemed presenter John White: The Great British Horror! Whats more weve even persuaded veteran reviewer but TDF Filmcast newbie Gavin Midgley to dust off his old horror DVDs and chime in on the ghoulish festivities. As the title might suggest, were going to discuss as many of our favourite British horrors as we can recall and delve deep into the matter of four specific classics in a quest to find out what is, truly, the great British Horror.
Our only rule in the classification of what makes a British horror is that three of the following areas of the film production be unmistakably British: Producer, Director, Writer, Cast/Lead Actor, and finally: Location. So with that rule in mind, the main films chosen for this podcast are: Night of the Demon, Peeping Tom, Quatermass and the Pit, and Theatre of Blood, but as always well be name dropping as many films as we can! Weve also put together a shortlist of ten Great British Horrors to accompany the podcast, so look out for that article on the main page sometime this week, and Happy Halloween!!
