Our Monster Mash Up continues to trundle along this Halloween as we crack out the coffin, dig out the soil, and stare into the mouldy hypnotic face of the Vampire, where well analyse the common themes of vampy movies and celebrate the greatest and most outré entries that this popular sub genre has to offer. Kev Gilvear has chosen the two classics that well concentrate on this episode: The first being Carl Theodore Dreyers often overlooked Vampyr, a film that uses surreal, dreamlike imagery to eerie effect. Next up is Ricky Laus Mr. Vampire, the fun Chinese hopping vampire movie that introduced a very particular species of vampiric living dead to Western audiences.
