Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's four blokes sitting on their arses waffling on about their favourite superhero films for an hour and half! Yes the TDF Film Podcast team have shaken off the cobwebs of the Halloween Horrorthon and returned to our usual format and much lighter fare: And what could be lighter than super-powered gentlemen flying and swinging around a city dressed in multicoloured layers of lycra... and a bloke dressed up as a harlequin slaughtering people on Halloween. Yes you can blame Rob for that one!

If you haven't already guessed then the theme of this podcast will be Superhero movies and the primary titles we'll be discussing are Dick Doner's seminal 1974 adaptation of Superman, Sam Raimi's high-octane spidey-sequel: Spider-Man 2, and Brandon Lee's tragic but glorious swansong in The Crow. Along the way we'll touch upon the recent(ish) big screen release of Thor: The Dark World and Rob Bayley (who actually has a degree on the subject!) will attempt to define just what exactly makes a superhero film "super".

We also want to remind everyone that the team have also branched out into the world of the small screen and started recording for the Television site, starting with a special podcast celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who. It's well worth checking out!

Episode 18 contributors: John White (host), Mike Sutton, Rob Bayley, and Matt Shingleton

Anyway, here are some YouTube trailers for the films from the Suphero pod:

Superman

Spider-Man 2

The Crow

We need your help

Running a website like The Digital Fix - especially one with over 20 years of content and an active community - costs lots of money and we need your help. As advertising income for independent sites continues to contract we are looking at other ways of supporting the site hosting and paying for content.

You can help us by using the links on The Digital Fix to buy your films, games and music and we ask that you try to avoid blocking our ads if you can. You can also help directly for just a few pennies per day via our Patreon - and you can even pay to have ads removed from the site entirely.
