Yellow Submarine trailer: The classic Beatles film returns to the big screen

While Richard Lester's A Hard Day's Night set the template for how bands and musicians were shot on film, created the format for music videos and helped to popularise the handheld style the French New Wave had been experimenting with for years, any film featuring The Beatles rarely managed to disappoint.

Help!, Magical Mystery Tour and Let It Be are all memorable in their own way but Yellow Submarine also played a key role in the evolution of meta-animation that has become the norm today. To celebrate its 50th anniversary it is returning to UK and Ireland cinemas and you can see the new trailer for it above.

Designed by the visionary art director Heinz Edelmann, it features some of the most-loved songs from The Beatles including Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Nowhere Man, Eleanor Rigby and All You Need is Love which can now be experienced in surround sound along with stunningly-restored animation.  Join John, Paul, George and Ringo on the technicolor adventure of a lifetime.

George Dunning was the man responsible for overseeing the animation and direction in the original film back in 1968, although he sadly passed away only a decade later.

Yellow Submarine emerges in UK cinemas on July 8th 2018.
