Whitney trailer: Kevin MacDonald's documentary reveals the pitfalls of fame

Last month we got a teaser for documentarian Kevin MacDonald's Whitney and now the full UK trailer has been released. The film made its debut at Cannes earlier in the month and the biggest story that came out of it was hearing two of Houston's relatives alleging that Dionne Warwick's younger sister - the late Dee Dee Warwick/Whitney's cousin - sexually abused her as a child.

There are a number of other allegations made in the film which has the official backing of the late singer's family. Amidst all of the ugliness, hopefully a good portion of the documentary will take the time to celebrate her extraordinary talent. Watch the trailer for Whitney above right now to find out more.

The only film officially supported by the late singer’s estate, it includes previously unreleased recordings, rare never-before-seen footage and live performances recorded by Houston at various stages of her life, as well as original studio recordings and acapellas of some of the late singer’s greatest hits. Because the filmmakers had access to vast archives of the Houston estate, the film also contains personal home movie footage that has never been seen publicly before, offering a rare glimpse of Whitney’s life behind-the-scenes as known only to her closest relatives, friends and collaborators.

Whitney arrives in UK cinemas on July 12th 2018.
