Watch Oscar-nominated animated short Hair Love

Written, produced, and directed by first-time Oscar nominee Matthew A. Cherry, Hair Love is a 6-minute short that sees a father attempting to style his daughters hair for the first time. Funded by a Kickstarter campaign, it was also adapted into a children's book, and at heart works as an ode to embracing the beauty of natural hair. Jordan Peele is a big fan of the story, saying: "I love that Hair Love is highlighting the relationship between a Black father and daughter. Matthew leads the ranks of new creatives who are telling unique stories of the Black experience. We need this." Hair Love has already been shown in US cinemas, having been attached to Angry Birds 2 back in August of last year. Watch it in full above.
