Twin Sisters in August

Optimum Home Entertainment have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Twin Sisters for 15th August 2005 priced at £19.99. Based on the phenomenally successful novel of the same name, Twin Sisters is a touching tale of the lives of two sisters whose relationship is torn apart by World War II.

Directed by Ben Sombogaart, Twin Sisters features an array of German and Dutch acting talent. Twin Sisters was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2003.

Following the deaths of their parents, Anna and Lotte are cruelly separated at the age of 6. Whilst Anna (Nadja Uhl) grows up in Germany, Lotte (Thekla Reuten, Blood Wedding) moves to the Netherlands and they are estranged from one another throughout World War II. More than half a century later, Anna, an old woman now, seeks out her unwilling sister only to find that their different war experiences in hostile camps may have damaged their relationship forever...

The worldwide best-selling novel by Tessa de Loo, De Tweeling, has been read by over 3 million people in Germany and the Netherlands and has been successfully published in England, Ireland, Australia and the USA.

Bonus features on the disc include an interview with author Tessa de Loo.
