True History of the Kelly Gang UK trailer: George MacKay plays the infamously lawless Ned Kelly
Based on Peter Carey's 2000 novel of the same name, True History of the Kelly Gang takes quite a few liberties with the truth to create its own version of events about the infamous Ned Kelly and his followers. The film played at TIFF back in September and has picked up some very good reviews on the festival circuit along the way. Not forgetting, of course, that it is just over 113 years since The Story of the Kelly Gang was released, which was the first full length narrative feature film. It's directed by Justin Kurzel and the trailer has more than one or two similarities to his wonderfully disturbed version of Macbeth in 2015.
