Too Late to Die Young trailer: An award winning Chilean drama coming to LFF

Dominga Sotomayor's Too Late to Die Young (not to be confused with Nicolas Winding Refn's TV series Too Old To Die Young) debuted at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival at the start of August and walked away with the Best Direction Award, making her the first woman to ever do so. The film is set just after the fall of General Augusto Pinochet's notorious reign at a time when a young generation were enjoying the taste of real freedom. The summer of 1990 in Chile. A small group of families lives in an isolated community right below the Andes, among dry dirt roads and dusty trees, building a new world away from the excesses of the distant city.

Sixteen-year-old Sofía and Lucas, and 10-year-old Clara struggle with parents, first loves, and fears, while they prepare a big party for New Year’s Eve with the hope of some new beginnings.

Sotomayor also wrote the script, with the cast featuring Demian Hernández, Antar Machado, Matías Oviedo, Antonia Zegers, Eyal Meyer, Magdalena Tótoro, Alejandro Goic, Andrés Aliaga and Gabriel Cañas.

There are no release dates for Too Late to Die Young just yet, but it will play at LFF in October. You can buy tickets for the performances here from September 13th onwards.
