Through Hell and High Water in July
Elevation have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Through Hell and High Water for 24th July 2006 priced at £17.99. Ben Fogle and James Cracknell hardly know each other when they decide to attempt one of the world’s toughest sporting challenges: to row across the Atlantic, unaided, in a record-beating 47 days. Television presenter Ben Fogle has never set foot in a rowing boat before, but Olympic Gold medallist James Cracknell is a man who likes to win, and together they are determined to beat the odds. Through Hell and High Water takes us with Ben and James on their nail-biting and emotional journey.
Ben and James have just four months to prepare themselves physically and mentally for the immense challenge that lies ahead of them, and they undergo a punishing training schedule that, in Ben’s case, includes learning how to row.
On the day of departure their boat is kitted out with cameras to record all the highs and lows of their adventure and there can be no modesty - one of the occupational hazards of long-distance rowing is chaffing, so much of the time they will be rowing naked. But neither of them are prepared for the exhaustion, drama, hunger, sleep deprivation, dehydration, solitude and very real danger that lie in the 3000 miles ahead of them. Trying hard to balance life at sea with fixing broken equipment, Ben and James are constantly pushing themselves to the limits of endurance. Along the way they capsize, hallucinate, fight, weep, grow beards, nurse blisters and eventually row an amazing 2,930 miles.
Presented in 1.78:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with English Stereo sound, extras include 23 minutes of previously unseen video diaries and food shortage story.
