The Venice Sala Web event launches this Thursday
The 76th Venice Film Festival opens this Wednesday and at the same time Festival Scope's Venice Sala Web event also returns, showing 6 feature-length films from the Out of Competition Orizzonti and Sconfini sections.
The online festival is now in its eighth year, giving the general public the opportunity to see some of the smaller films making their world premiere at Venice. All six features will be shown online at the La Biennale website, offering a maximum capacity of 1,000 seats for each title. Both Italian and English subtitles will be available, with streaming starting at 9pm (8pm UK time) on the day the respective film is presented on the Lido, right through to September 19.
The films chosen to participate in the Venice Sala Web Festival this year are:
The Scarecrows, dir. Nouri Bouzid (Tunisia)
White on White, dir. Theo Court (Spain)
Just 6.5, dir. Saeed Roustaee (Iran)
Collective, dir. Alexander Nanau (Romania)
The Criminal Man, dir Dmitry Mamuliya (Georgia)
Zumiriki, dir. Oskar Algeria (Spain)
Tickets or digital passes for the 6 films on the Web Theatre are available to purchase now on the website of La Biennale di Venezia or at Festival Scope. In order to view the film of choice, you must first register and pay for the individual ticket (4€) or a pass for 5 films (10€), which will be good for one viewing only of each film.
The Venice Sala Web event runs from August 29 through to September 19. Look out for our reviews of the above films which will appear throughout the 3 weeks.
