The Phantom of the Opera (2004) in May

Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Phantom of the Opera for 3rd May 2005. Joel Schumacher's musical drama based on Andrew Lloyd Webber's celebrated musical phenomenon. The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a disfigured musical genius (Gerard Butler) who haunts the catacombs beneath the Paris Opera, waging a reign of terror over its occupants. When he falls fatally in love with the lovely Christine (Emmy Rossum), the Phantom devotes himself to creating a new star for the Opera, exerting a strange sense of control over the young soprano as he nurtures her extraordinary talents.

Available in separate Widescreen and Full Screen 1-Disc DVD editions ($27.95 SRP) there will also be a Widescreen Collector's Edition 2-Disc DVD ($29.95 SRP). Both sets will offer English and French DD5.1 Surround audio, and English, French and Spanish subtitles. There are no confirmed extras for the single-disc/movie-disc of the two-disc set...
