The Land of Steady Habits trailer: Ben Mendelsohn searches for meaning in his life

You would be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't think Ben Mendelsohn is one of the best male actors working today. His role in Netflix's The Land of Steady Habits sees him move away from the villainous roles he has been typecast into a little too much over the years, with the trailer looking far more lighthearted. It also stars Edie Falco, who we could do with seeing more of outside of TV. You can watch the trailer for The Land of Steady Habits above right now.

Feeling trapped in the stifling, wealthy enclave of Westport, Connecticut, Anders Hill (Mendelsohn) retires from his job in finance and leaves his wife (Falco) in the hopes that it will renew his lust for life. However, he’s quickly faced with the startling reality of his choices; he spends his days looking for things to decorate his empty shelves, sleeping with strangers and feeling terribly lost.

Missing his ex-wife and on the outs with his troubled 27-year-old son, Anders befriends a drug-addicted teen, sending him down a path of reckless and of deeply regrettable behaviour. His shameful actions cause him to question who he is as a father and, ultimately, who he is as a person.

Nicole Holofcener (Enough Said) writes and directs, with the supporting cast featuring Thomas Mann, Charlie Tahan, Connie Britton, Bill Camp and Elizabeth Marvel.

The Land of Steady Habits lands on Netflix on September 14th 2018.
