The Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme 2020

This year The Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme 2020 will bring 20 rare classic and contemporary Japanese films to 22 cities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland with a theme of Happiness is A State of Mind: Joy and Despair in Japanese Cinema.

Every year the Japan Foundation present a touring programme of some of the finest Japanese films in order to introduce their versatility and uniqueness to the UK. With a line-up of contemporary titles that have never had a UK release, documentaries, anime, and classic masterpieces, there is always something for everybody.

The nation’s largest season of Japanese cinema visits 22 cities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Following the programme at the ICA running from 31 January – 29 March 2020 , the season will tour a further 21 venues nationwide. until late March 2020.

Venues include: Belfast, Kendal, Dundee, Leicester Stamford, Chester, Sheffield, Bristol, Derby, Cardiff, Colchester, Manchester, Newcastle, Halifax, Lewes, Stirling, Exeter, Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Nottingham
