The Hoax (R1) in October

Buena Vista Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Hoax on 16th October 2007 priced at $29.99 SRP. Director Lasse Hallström tells the unbelievable true story of the man who nearly pulled off the biggest media scam of the 20th century in The Hoax.

Based on Clifford Irving’s controversial autobiography by the same name, Richard Gere assumes the identity of Clifford Irving, a novelist-turned-literary-scam-artist who in the 1970s penned a bogus autobiography of reclusive playboy billionaire Howard Hughes. Screenwriter William Wheeler based his “Hoax” script on Irving's own tell-all tome by the same name. Alfred Molina, Marcia Gay Harden, Hope Davis, Stanley Tucci and Julie Delpy also star.
