The Company (R1) in October
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Company on 23rd October 2007 priced at $39.95 SRP. The recent TV mini-series with a long list of talent both behind and in front of the camera (including director Mikael Salomon, executive producers Ridley Scott and Tony Scott and actors Chris O’Donnell, Alfred Molina and Michael Keaton) was adapated by Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) from the best-selling novel by Robert Littell on the history of the CIA.
The Company tells the story of Jack McCauliffe (O’Donnell), an idealistic Yale graduate recruited into the CIA by his coach. He’s sent to the legendary Berlin Base in Germany to work with a man who becomes his mentor: the eccentric and colorful Harvey Torriti (Molina), codename “The Sorcerer”. Soon Jack and The Sorcerer find themselves entangled in double lives, fighting an elusive but formidable enemy in an unrelenting and deadly battle within the CIA itself. Together with the counterintelligence chief, James Angleton (Keaton), the three men are hell-bent on finding the moles within their own ranks before every operation they undertake is completely undermined. As these agents and double agents delve deeper into the game of espionage, some can remain detached. However, Jack is forever changed as he must witness the cost in human lives. His struggle to remain distant versus his love for a beautiful enemy informant is all too powerful to resist.
