The Aeronauts trailer: Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones take to the skies

Earlier this morning The Aeronauts was announced as part of the Gala section of the upcoming London Film Festival and eOne have just released the first trailer. The story is based on the 1862 flight of British aeronauts James Glaisher and Henry Coxwell, whose hot air balloon broke the world flight altitude record at the time, by reaching about 11,887m. Set in 1862 and inspired by true events, the film follows wealthy young widow Amelia Wren (Jones) and headstrong scientist James Glaisher (Redmayne), as they mount a balloon expedition to fly higher than anyone in history. This is a journey to the very edge of existence, where the air is thin and the chances of survival are slim. As their perilous ascent reveals their true selves, this unlikely pair discover things about each other - and themselves - that helps each of them find their place in the world they have left behind.

Tom Harper (Wild Rose) directs, with Redmayne and Jones supported by Himesh Patel, Anne Reid, Tom Courtenay, Tim McInnerny and Phoebe Fox.

The Aeronauts fly into UK cinemas on November 6, followed by the US on December 6, before landing on Amazon Prime on December 20.
