The 39 Steps

Carlton have announced a Region 2 release for another of Hitchcock's greatest films - The 39 Steps. Due on 13 August, the DVD will als feature a documentary entitled 'Hitchcock: The Early Years'.

Based loosely on the novel by John Buchan, The 39 Steps stars Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll in a story of intrigue and suspense. A glamorous spy is murdered and the man that spent the night with her is the suspect - but he eludes the polics until a chase across Scotland reveals the real villains.

A recent BFI poll placed this seminal film in the top five 'Favourite British Films'. The DVD will retail for £15.99.
