That Peter Kay Thing in October

Channel 4 Video have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of That Peter Kay Thing for 4th October 2004 priced at £19.99. In this six-part series of spoof fly-on-the-wall docu-soaps, the hottest comic of the moment Peter Kay plays a total of 15 quirky characters, including Mr Softy Top, the unethical ice cream man; Leonard, the oldest paper boy in Britain; Marc Park, the egocentric pop star, and the Phoenix Club’s wheelchair bound Brian Potter.

The double disc set contains the entire series complete with a bonus disc containing over 45 minutes of mainly unseen footage including alternative extended and deleted scenes, trailers, the original pilot episode ‘The Services’, and a commentary by Peter Kay, Patrick McGuinness and Craig Cash (The Royle Family, Mrs Merton & Malcolm and Early Doors).

In ‘The Services’, the award winning pilot episode, we follow a day in the life of Pearl, manageress at Bolton’s local motorway service station, as well as witnessing the attempts of Chorley FM’s Paul Le Roy as he tries to drum up enthusiasm for the local radio station as it plans to bid for an FM license.
