Takeshi Kitano Collection - Separate releases in May

Previously released as a collection back in October 2008, Second Sight are now making the first six films by Japanese actor/director Takeshi Kitano available as separate DVD releases on 11th May 2009. Priced at £19.99 RRP each (which is quite high considering the collection is £49.99 RRP), the discs are the same as those found in the collection (see the DVDTimes' review here).

The films are: Violent Cop, Boiling Point, A Scene at the Sea, Sonatine, Getting Any? and Kids Return.

All titles are presented in anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1 approx) with Japanese DD2.0 audio and optional English subtitles. Violent Cop, Boiling Point and Sonatine also include 5.1 audio. Chris D, author of Outlaw Master of Japanese Film, provides commentary on Violent Cop and Sonatine. The only other extra is found on the Violent Cop disc (which is also the only dual-layer disc in the set) and is a 68-minute documentary ‘Takashi Kitano – The Unpredictable’.

Violent Cop, Boiling Point and Sonatine are NTSC>PAL conversions. The others are not.
