Studio Ghibli titles coming to Netflix outside of the US and Japan
The agreement will see Netflix add 21 Studio Ghibli films to their network rolling out in monthly instalments starting on 1st February and will include subtitles in 28 languages alongside dubs in 20 languages allowing viewers to chose whether to view in their original Japanese with regional subs or in a dubbed variant.
"This is a dream come true for Netflix and millions of our members," said Aram Yacoubian, Netflix's director of original animation. "Studio Ghibli's animated films are legendary and have enthralled fans around the world for over 35 years. We're excited to make them available in more languages across Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia — so that more people can enjoy this whimsical and wonderful world of animation."
Studio Ghibli is famous for creating some of the best loved films to come out of Japan and includes a number of classic animations including Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service.
