Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker D23 trailer released - hints that the Dark Side might claim a new hero

Disney have released the D23 trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker online - you can watch it above. Opening with a montage of shots from all of the previous films in the saga before kicking off into the new Rise of Skywalker footage, the trailer features plenty to get fans excited including glimpses of the Resistance and First Order (or Sith?) fleets, C-3PO with menacingly red eyes and Rey in full Sith mode brandishing a dual-blade red lightsaber.

Also released at D23 over the weekend was a new poster for the film.

The Rise of Skywalker will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Ian McDiarmid, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hammill Billy Dee Williams, Richard E Grant, Keri Russell, Domhnall Gleeson, Naomi Ackie, Anthony Daniels, Billie Lourde and Joonas Suotamo. It is set to arrive on on 19th December, is directed by J J Abrams and written by Abrams and Chris Terrio.
