Soda Pictures launch World Cinema DVD Label
London based feature film distributor, Soda Pictures have announced they will be releasing their theatrical catalogue on DVD through World Cinema. Among the titles scheduled for release in 2005 is the European Film Award Winner Head On, directed by Fatih Akin and currently playing across the UK.
The first three titles to be released on DVD in May 2005 will be This is Not a Love Song, The Miracle of Bern and The Saddest Music in the World.
This is Not a Love Song, described, as ‘a rural-menace thriller in the Straw Dogs or Deliverance tradition’ by Time Out was the first feature film to be released simultaneously online as well as theatrically, making it a world first e-premiere.
The Miracle of Bern, Film of the Year Winner at the German Academy Awards has been described as the best football film ever by ex-Chelsea star Pat Nevin and tells the story of a surprise victory for the German team in the World Cup in 1954.
The Saddest Music in the World starring Isabella Rossellini is the latest feature from Canadian cult director Guy Maddin and the special edition disc will host a variety of extras including a world DVD exclusive of Cowards Bend the Knee, a story of love and revenge set amidst the Winnipeg Maroons ice hockey team.
DVD releases in 2005 will include the recent box office hit Head-On, and Brothers starring Hollywood actress Connie Nielsen in her first Danish-speaking role as well as the eagerly anticipated Untold Scandal, a Korean adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons.
