Shops Good! Internet Bad!

The internet is the way forward for shopping, right? Well apparantly a lot of big name companies don't think so and are specifically forbidding online stores to sell their products. These aren't insignificant companies you wouldn't be bothered about either, they include big brands such as REL, KEF, Cabletalk, B&W, Marantz and soon, Mission.

Brick and mortar stores with an online presence are being told that they can sell these companies' products in their store, but not online or by mail order. Should they break this rule, they will have their account cancelled and will no longer be able to sell these items full-stop.

Online stores and mail-order companies that wish to sell these products, quite simply can't.

Quite why these companies are taking this stance is a bit of a mystery, but it almost certainly ties in with the fact that a number of the above mentioned specifically forbid discounting any of their lines.

So, a big thank-you to the stunningly inspired marketing guys for coming up with such a great way to do business with your customers. No discounts and no easy online provision of goods. Thanks guys, a real step in the right direction.

We need your help

Running a website like The Digital Fix - especially one with over 20 years of content and an active community - costs lots of money and we need your help. As advertising income for independent sites continues to contract we are looking at other ways of supporting the site hosting and paying for content.

You can help us by using the links on The Digital Fix to buy your films, games and music and we ask that you try to avoid blocking our ads if you can. You can also help directly for just a few pennies per day via our Patreon - and you can even pay to have ads removed from the site entirely.
