Shock and Awe trailer: Rob Reiner's new film investigates the lies behind the Iraq War

Films set in newspaper offices have become something of sub-genre in recent years, what with Spotlight, The Post and now Rob Reiner's Shock and Awe. Here it looks back at the claims made by the American (and British) governments during the second Iraq War that is was a necessary invasion due to dictator Saddam Hussein possessing "weapons of mass destruction." And we all know how truthful that turned out to be in the end. Watch the trailer for Shock and Awe above right now.

The film is based on the true events of Knight Ridder journalists who were the only ones who “got it right” in the lead-up to the 2003 Iraq War when they questioned the true nature of the Bush White House’s justification for the conflict.

An impressive cast features Woody Harrelson, James Marsden, Tommy Lee Jones, Milla Jovovich, Jessica Biel, Luke Tennie and Richard Schiff.

Shock and Awe will air exclusively on DirecTV starting June 14th before hitting theatres July 11th 2018.
