Rome Season 1 (R1) in August - Artwork update

HBO have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Rome: The Complete First Season for 15th August 2006 priced at $99.95 SRP. This critically acclaimed, historically authentic drama that chronicles the fall of a Republic and the creation of an empire through the experiences of two ordinary soldiers arrives on DVD with the most extensive bonus features ever produced for an HBO original series.

All 12 hour-long episodes are included on this six-disc set packaged with an old-world feel in a unique ultra-lightweight wooden substrate (never before used for a home video release), the DVD has a monumental array of bonus materials and interactive features totaling over 20 hours.

Episodes are presented in 1.78:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with English DD5.1 Surround audio, French and Spanish Dolby Surround audio and optional English, French and Spanish subtitles. Extra features include:

  • “All Roads Lead to Rome” – Interactive onscreen guide on all 12 episodes providing historical facts prepared by series historical consultant, Jonathan Stamp

  • “Shot x Shot: Gladiator” – Making of the thrilling and emotional episode 11 fight sequence highlighting the power and perseverance of the 13th Legion.

  • “Friends, Romans, Countrymen” – Introduction to the characters of Rome.

  • “Character Guide” – an eight page Rome booklet featuring names, profiles, relationships and other key historical information.

  • Eight audio commentaries with cast (Kevin McKidd and Ray Stevenson), series creator Bruno Heller, and more.

  • Photo gallery with over 50 never-before-seen images from the show
