Restored Münchhausen released on Region 2 DVD

Today sees the release of the UK Region 2 DVD release of Joseph Von Baky's 1943 film Münchhausen. A bold and colourful extravaganza, the film has been fully restored by the Friedrich Murnau Foundation and digitally remastered for DVD.



The legendary baron’s adventures include a romance with a the beautiful Russian Empress, an unconventional war with the Turks, the rescuing of a princess from a harem using a ring of invisibility, a duel in Venice and a trip to the moon in a hot-air balloon. The film has been remade numerous times, most recently in 1988 by Terry Gilliam as The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
