"I'll Probably Do Indy 5 With Harrison" says Spielberg
While on promotional duties for Bridge of Spies the film's director, Steven Spielberg, joked about the number of times he's worked with both Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford (four-all for those who are counting). He then went on to say "I'll Probably Do Indy 5 With Harrison, it’ll be five for Harrison, four for Tom" whilst talking to Yahoo.
Various rumours have surfaced about the future of the Indiana Jones series ever since Disney snapped up LucasFilm and fast-tracked Star Wars sequels into production. This is the first word we've had from Spielberg that it could be on the cards and while it's as far from confirmation as you can get it still adds more weight to the possibility. It also suggests that the role of Indy isn't likely to be re-cast; indeed previously Chris Pratt had been mooted as a possible Ford replacement.
In recent years LucasFilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, had hinted that the Indiana Jones series wasn't finished but then producer Frank Marshall seemed to urinate on those cornflakes. Spielberg has a busy year ahead with both The BFG and Ready Player One in various states of completion, but once these two are out of the way it seems there is a decent chance that we'll get one final adventure for Junior Jones... Hopefully with no Crystal Skulls in sight.
