Purple Rain SE (R2) and more Prince titles in October

Warner Home Video have announced the UK Region 2 DVD debut of Purple Rain starring rock legend Prince, arriving as a 20th Anniversary Two-Disc Special Edition on 18th October 2004 priced at £19.99. Two additional Prince films, Graffiti Bridge and Under the Cherry Moon will also make their debut on 18th October, priced at £12.99 each while a Special Edition Prince DVD boxset, containing all three titles will also receive a release on the same day, for £29.99 RRP.

Purple Rain 20th Anniversary Special Edition - Purple Rain, which earned an Academy Award® for Best Original Song Score, is the semi-autobiographical story of an ambitious young musician's struggle to secure his success in the music industry while overcoming personal strife.

In addition to featuring an all-new digital transfer, newly remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and first-time-ever widescreen presentation, the Purple Rain 20th Anniversary Two-Disc Special Edition DVD bonus materials include:

  • Commentary by Director Albert Magnoli, Producer Robert Cavallo and Cinematographer Donald E. Thorin
  • Three new featurettes:
    • Making-of the movie and the Academy Award® winning music
    • The Minneapolis music scene and Prince's career prior to Purple Rain

Graffiti Bridge follows The Kid (Prince) and Morris Day, now rival nightclub owners who wager their clubs over which one is the best song writer. Once again, their clashing artistic visions and jealously leads them to fight over one woman's love.

Under the Cherry Moon, which launched Prince's directing career, is the story of a young musician (Prince) and his friend who has traveled to Europe and is enjoying the wealth they earn by scamming rich women. When the musician falls in love with one of their marks (Kristin Scott Thomas: making her feature film debut), their friendship and new-found riches are jeopardized. The film features hits from Prince and the Revolution including "Kiss," "Mountains," and "Under the Cherry Moon."
