Princess Mononoke

The stunning Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime) is set for UK DVD release in October according to the latest press release from Buena Vista. Thankfully, fears that the disc will not feature the Japanese soundtrack are not realised with the UK release as we get both the original soundtrack and the excellent US dub featuring some big-name actors (Gillian Anderson, Billy Crudup, Billy Bob Thornton, Clare Danes and Minnie Driver).

Princess Mononoke is an epic story of conflict between good and evil with man going to war against the gods of the forest. Out of the hugely well resepected Studio Ghibli, Princess Mononoke is another stunning film from the pen of Hayao Miyazaki (Kiki's Deliver Service, Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro). State of the art cell animation married with a thought-provoking and entertaining story guarantees that Princess Mononoke will impress anyone who takes the time to watch it - although it apparently doesn't have the confidence of Disney going on recent developments.

The DVD will feature a beautiful 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 English and Japanese soundtracks, English subtitles, the theatrical trailer and a 5-minute making-of with interviews with many of the American cast. Princess Mononoke will be release on 22 October.
