Playstation Games on Your DVD Player?

According to The Register, Acer Labs are working on a chipset/software combo that will allow you to play PlayStation games on DVD players. Whether or not Sony are happy with this is as yet unknown, but they are infamously against any kinds of PS emulation. This can be witnessed by the huge number of lawsuits filed against the two leading emulators, Bleem! and Connectix's Virtual Game Station, all of which, so far, have been unsuccessful. No timescale is given on the appearance of these PS/DVD player combos as yet, but the chips will primarily be aimed at Chinese manufacturers, at least in the beginning. Interesting stuff, and Sony's reaction will certainly be one to wait for.
