Playmobil: The Movie trailer: Anya Taylor Joy and Gabriel Bateman turn in plastic performances

It's hard not to feel a little cynical about the release of a Playmobil: The Movie film. The Lego universe has managed to balance its obvious advertising with a run of fun and memorable films, and the Brandstätter Group (who make Playmobil) obviously want in on the action. Hopefully they can prove us wrong and provide the same self-referential humour that won't make this feel like a marketing vehicle. Although, it will have its work cut out to not feel like a second-tier version of these types of films. Anyway, enough with the talk, and check out the first full trailer for Playmobil: The Movie above.

When her younger brother Charlie unexpectedly disappears into the magical, animated universe of PLAYMOBIL, unprepared Marla must go on a quest of a lifetime to bring him home. Lino DiSalvo directs, with the voice cast featuring, Anya Taylor-Joy, Gabriel Bateman, Daniel Radcliffe, Jim Gaffigan, Adam Lambert, Kenan Thompson and Meghan Trainor.
