Oz Film Festival: Australian Films in London: 30 June-2 July 2017
The new Oz Film festival will open from Friday 30 June to 2 July 2017 for a weekend of Australian films at the Regent Street Cinema in London. The opening night film will be the UK premiere of Jasper Jones, starring Toni Collette and Hugo Weaving, directed by Rachel Perkins (Bran Nue Dae, Radiance) and based on the bestselling novel by the screenwriter, Craig Silvey.
Also confirmed are the rarely-screened thirty-year-old cult classic, Dogs In Space, starring Michael Hutchence, who passed away twenty years ago in November, and the profoundly moving LGBT documentary Remembering the Man, narrated by the author of the internationally bestselling biography Holding the Man and which the 2015 film of the same name was based on.
Also showing will be Red Dog: True Blue, starring Jason Isaacs, Bryan Brown and Levi Miller, the follow-up to the 2011 hit, and a twenty-fifth anniversary screening of Strictly Ballroom.
The full festival programme will be announced in the coming weeks and will include an exciting mix of new and significant classic Australian feature films, documentaries, comedies and dramas, as well as films perfect for families, short films and, of course, an edge-of-your-seat horror.
