The Eddy Duchin Story - Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

Flesh of the Orchid - Bluebell Films
Charlotte Rampling stars as an emotionally disturbed young woman, Claire who is the heir to a great fortune, but is kept prisoner by her greedy aunt who wants her money. Nominated for two Cesars, Flesh of the Orchid, is directed by Patrice Chereau (La Reine Margot, Son Frere).
Godspell - Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
This 1970s song-and-dance film adaption of the famous musical was previously exclusive to MovieMail but will now be available from all retailers in November.
Harold Pinter – Pinter’s Progress and The Homecoming - 3DD Home Entertainment
This 2-disc collection celebrates the life and work of the writer and Nobel Laureate, Harold Pinter and includes Philip Saville’s 2009 documentary Pinter’s Progress alongside Sir Peter Hall’s filmed production of what is widely regarded as Pinter’s greatest play - The Homecoming.
Here Come the Double Deckers - Second Sight
"Get on board, get on board, come and join the Double Deckers." A song that brought joy to a whole generation of children thanks to Here Come The Double Deckers, a huge TV hit in the early 1970s. Originally aired in the UK in 1971 this wonderful comedy adventure series follows the trials and tribulations of the Double Deckers, seven kids out to have fun. Complete with lots of singing and a fair amount of detective work it ran for just one memorable season made up of seventeen episodes and has never been seen on DVD until now. Extras include interviews with Brinsley Forde (“Spring” and Michael Audreson (“Brains”).

Whitechapel Series 2 - Universal Playback
Rupert Penry-Jones (DI Joseph Chandler), Phil Davis (DS Ray Miles) and Steve Pemberton (Edward Buchan) are back for the second series of Whitechapel. After intercepting the last ‘Ripper’ murder, another copycat killer has slunk out from the darkness. Whitechapel: Series Two sees the crime fighting trio trying to solve murders similar to those of the infamous Kray Twins. Extras include deleted scenes and two featurettes: Brothers Grim – iconography of the Krays & Suited and Booted – re-creating the Krays image.

The Concert - Optimum Home Entertainment
Starring Aleksei Guskov,, Dimitri Nazarov, Melanie Laurent, Francois Berleand and Miou-Miou, The Concert was directed by Radu Mihaileanu. Andrei Flipov was a prodigy - the celebrated conductor of the Bolshoi Orchestra, the greatest orchestra in Russia. Today, aged 50, he still works at the Bolshoi, but as a cleaner. During the communist era he was fired at the height of his fame for refusing to get rid of all his Jewish players, including his best friend Sacha Grossman. Then Andrei finds a fax. An invitation for the orchestra to play at Pleyel, in Paris, in 2 weeks’ time, as a last minute replacement for the indisposed San Francisco Philharmonic.

Downtown Abbey Series 1 - Universal Playback – DVD release
The world of the Edwardian country house and the power games played above and below stairs are brought to life in this drama written and created by Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park, The Young Victoria). Extras include commentaries, deleted scenes and two featurettes – The Making of Downtown Abbey & A House in History – Downtown Abbey. There is a Blu-ray release a few weeks later on 29th November (see further down the page).
Frontier Blues - Artificial Eye
The debut feature of Iranian-born and London-based writer/director Babak Jalali intertwines 4 stories all set in Iran s northern frontier with Turkmenistan. With insight and humour, Jalali observes fragments from the sometimes absurd everyday lives of several characters in this diverse and multi-ethnic region. Gary: Tank Commander - 2Entertain
Following the 2008 mockumentary series Gary’s War, this sitcom series shows Gary and his tank crew (Jacko - the brawn, Charlie - the brains and Adam - the libido) dealing with the differences between Mid Lothian and the Mid East, with flashback footage of the boys in Iraq and Gary’s interviews in conversation offering his typically upbeat thoughts on the wider world. In the land of the free… - Network Releasing
This documentary from director Vadim Jean (Leon the Pig Farmer, Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather) examines the story of Herman Wallace, Albert Woodfox and Robert King. They are known as the Angola 3 and have spent almost a century between them in solitary confinement in Angola, the Louisiana state penitentiary. Herman and Albert are still held in solitary confinement after 37 years. How could this be? In America. Today. The only extra is a short film ‘Letters to Angola’.
