New Terminator: Dark Fate trailer: The fifth instalment takes us back to the day after Judgement Day

The first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate was pretty underwhelming and there are already fears it will be another in a long list of failures that have failed to live up to James Cameron's two sci-fi masterpieces. According to director Tim Miller, it deals with the consequences of what took place in T2, picking up 27 years later and ignoring all the other sequels that have come to our screens since. There were apparently some huge leaks about the film posted on Reddit shortly after the first trailer that revealed big plot points. Whether true or not remains to be seen.

It was also revealed that Edward Furlong would be returning as John Connor for the film, although there’s no sign of him in this trailer. This one is a lot more dramatic and definitely has the edge over its predecessor, but it’s hard not to wonder what the point of it all is. The trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate appeared overnight and it is now available to watch above.

27 years after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a new, modified liquid metal Terminator (Gabriel Luna) is sent from the future by Skynet in order to terminate Dani Ramos, a hybrid cyborg human and her friends. Sarah Connor comes to their aid, as well as the original Terminator, for a fight for the future.

Tim Miller (Deadpool) directs, with the cast starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Mackenzie Davis, Gabriel Luna and Natalia Reyes.

Terminator: Dark Fate opens in UK cinemas on October 23 and November 1 in the US.
