New Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark trailer: Guillermo Del Toro produces this horror adaptation
Back at the start of February we were given a few brief glimpses of the four stories that make up Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Guillermo Del Toro has not only produced the film but also co-wrote the script with Daniel and Kevin Hageman. It is an adaptation of a series of books first written by Alvin Schwartz back in the 80s. A first peak at the original teasers didn't look too promising and the first trailer wasn’t a whole lot better. Check out the trailer for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and see what you think.
It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.
André Øvredal (Troll Hunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) directs, with the cast featuring Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Kathleen Pollard, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur and Natalie Ganzhorn.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark opens in the US on August 9, and in the UK date on August 23.
