New Midsommar trailer: Florence Pugh tries to survive the longest - and most painful - day of the year

The first reactions are in for Ari Asters folk(ish) new horror film, Midsommar - and it's fair to say the critics love it. As it's the real Midsummer's Day today, A24 couldn't resist dropping one final - but short - trailer two weeks ahead of its release. Reviews have said Aster's film is surprisingly funny and that comes through more in this trailer than in the previous two. We'll have a review of Midsommar in the days leading up to the release, but in the meantime check out the final trailer.

Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing.

Aster has once again penned the script, with the cast starring Florence Pugh, Will Poulter, William Jackson Harper and Jack Reynor.

Midsommar drops in mid-summer on July 2 in the US and July 5 in the UK.
