New Ad Astra trailer: Brad Pitt is ready to find astronaut father, Tommy Lee Jones

It was only about a month ago that we got the first trailer for James Grays' highly anticipated Brad Pitt-led sci-fi, Ad Astra. Gray recently offered more insight in Pitt's character, saying he "plays someone with schizoid tendencies," going on to say how "that is preferred for astronauts in space travel, because you don’t have to connect emotionally". It seems Pitt's character is destined for trouble as the very nature of the story is one based around a son searching for his missing renegade astronaut father, which will no doubt raise intense emotional conflict. You can watch the new trailer for Ad Astra above right now.

Astronaut Roy McBride travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.

Gray writes as well as directs, with the cast also starring Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Donald Sutherland and Jamie Kennedy.

Ad Astra arrives in UK cinemas on September 18 and the US on September 20.
