Network Releasing has designs on Columbus
Network Releasing is proud to announce that on 31st August Columbus - the visually stunning debut feature from much lauded video essayist Kogonada - is set to be released in cinemas in the UK and Eire.
Having already created a major buzz on the festival circuit since its world premiere at Sundance, it has gone on to win numerous awards and garnered a host of excellent reviews. Set in Columbus, a small city in Indiana famed worldwide for its striking modernist architecture and public art, the film is an off-kilter love story about the meeting of minds between Jin and Casey, two lost and troubled souls who find each other through their exploration of the town, its buildings and their conflicted emotions on family and the ties that bind them.
Although influenced by directors such as Ozu, Kore-eda and Linklater, Kogonada has crafted a film with its own unique style and aesthetic. With an exceptional ensemble cast including John Cho (Star Trek, Harold and Kumar), Hayley Lu Richardson (The Edge of Seventeen) and Parker Posey (Dazed and Confused, Lost in Space), the unspoken star is undoubtedly Columbus itself and its myriad of buildings designed by some of the greats of architecture including Eero Saarinen, I.M. Pei, and Richard Meier.
Network Releasing’s MD, Tim Beddows commented: “We are thrilled and delighted to be releasing Kogonada’s remarkable feature debut and that UK audiences will have the opportunity to see this stunningly beautiful film on the big screen. Following on from its success in the States, it will not only have obvious appeal to fans of directors such as Richard Linklater and Terrence Malick, as well as those who have followed Kogonada’s previous work, but will also reach out to lovers of art, architecture and original filmmaking. It’s a privilege to be working on this film and with a director of such exceptional vision and talent”
