Netflix announce Bright is to get a sequel

Netflix have confirmed that Bright, the recent streaming site exclusive David Ayer film, is to get a sequel. Ayer, along with stars Will Smith and Joel Edgerton are expected to return.

Bright was written by Max Landis who, subsequently has been accused of sexual misconduct. There is no confirmation that he is returning to write the sequel. Funnily enough, before the film was savaged by critics he tweeted out his feeling that this was to be his 'Star Wars'.

Details on release date or plot are yet to be revealed. The synopsis for the first film is below.

Set in an alternate present-day, this action-thriller directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad, End of Watch, writer of Training Day) follows two cops from very different backgrounds (Ward, a human played by Will Smith, and Jakoby, an orc played by Joel Edgerton) who embark on a routine patrol night that will ultimately alter the future as their world knows it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which in the wrong hands could destroy everything.
