Universal Studios Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Munich for 9th May 2006. Inspired by real events, Munich reveals the intense story of the secret Israeli squad assigned to track down and assassinate the 11 Palestinians believed to have planned the 1972 Munich massacre of 11 Israeli athletes – and the personal toll this mission of revenge takes on the team and the man who led it. Steven Spielberg’s latest effort garnered five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Munich: The Mission, The Team - Find out how this project came about and the challenges that were faced by the filmmakers to draw an accurate portrayal of the controversial mission. The actors share their experience getting involved portraying the five men who led the mission.
Available in both single-disc Widescreen and Full Screen editions ($29.98 SRP) and two-disc Limited Collector’s Edition (Widescreen, no set retail price) releases the film will be available with English and French DD5.1 Surround, English DVS Stereo Sound (Audio Descriptive) and optional English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles.
Extras on the single-disc release are limited to an introduction from director Steven Spielberg.
