Metrodome Films in December

Metrodome have announced several UK Region 2 DVD releases for 26th December 2007. Details follow…

Sherrybaby - £15.99 - Three years after entering prison for robbery as a 19-year-old heroin addict, Sherry Swanson (Maggie Gyllenhaal) begins her first day of freedom, clean and sober. A model prisoner who has undergone personal transformation, she immediately sets out to regain custody of her young daughter Alexis (Ryan Simpkins).

Arriving almost a year after the Region 1, we do at least get some extras over the barebones Universal release. These include a Film Four interview with Maggie Gyllenhaal, an interview with Danny Trejo, plus a text Q&A with director Laurie Collyer.

Slacker - £17.99 - Richard Linklater’s breakout film is a unique series of loosely interweaved episodes shining a delightfully off-beat light on a parade of socially disconnected, overly educated, and barely motivated citizens in Austin, Texas.

Extras include:

  • Trailer
  • Film Notes
  • Shooting Slacker: behind the scenes stills gallery

Bone Dry - £15.99 - Eddie, a businessman on his way back home, finds his perfect life shattered when an unseen assailant snatches him from a roadside in the harsh Texas desert. His nemesis is Jimmy, a man armed, astonishingly dangerous and with a single purpose – to send Eddie on a brutally unnerving journey into the unknown.

Always two steps ahead, Jimmy stalks, menaces and challenges his prey, breaking his spirit and his body, until hunter and hunted come face to face. At this final destination one last devastating test and a shocking revelation climax in a gruelling showdown of survival at any cost.

Extras include:
  • Commentary with director Brett Hart and star Lance Henriksen
  • The Making of Bone Dry
  • Deleted Scene with optional commentar
  • Bone Dry pitch trailer
  • Trailer

Accion Mutante - £15.99 – The first in a double-bill of films by Spanish director Alex De La Iglesia. This sci-fi comedy horror is set in the near future where the world cruelly pitches the insanely rich and diabolically beautiful against the tragically ugly and unfortunately poverty-stricken. But salvation is at hand for the underbelly of society: they call themselves….Accion Mutante!

Extras include a 30-minute making-of.

800 Bullets - £15.99 – The second in a double-bill of films by Spanish director Alex De La Iglesia is this hyper-stylized tribute to the classic spaghetti westerns.

Extras include a 30-minute making-of.

Also released on the Third Window Films label is Teenage Hooker Became A Killing Machine, a South Korean feature for which we’ve already reviewed the DVD.
