Manga in August

Manga Entertainment have several live-action films joining their anime line-up in August…

9th August 2010

Kamui: The Lone Ninja - DVD (£15.99 RRP) and Blu-ray (£19.99 RRP) - Based on the legendary multi-volume manga series created by Japanese artist and essayist Sanpei Shirato in 1964, Kamui: The Lone Ninja is a high-spirited adventure involving deadly ninjas, fierce warrior clans, treacherous pirates and fearless shark hunters. Extras include nearly an hour of promotional tour footage (press conferences, red carpet footage etc) and the teaser and theatrical trailer. The Blu-ray is coded for Region B and features 2.0 PCM and 5.1 DTS-HD MA Japanese audio with optional English subtitles.

Naruto Shippuden Box Set 2 - DVD (£24.99 RRP) - In this set Team Kakashi is joined by Team Guy in their pursuit of Gaara's kidnappers, Deidara and Sasori, but on their way to the Akatsuki hideout is fraught with familiar enemies and deadly traps. Extras are TBC.

Bleach Complete Series 4 Box Set - DVD (£39.99 RRP) - The final chapter in the Bount Trilogy! After returning home from their battles in the Seireitei, Ichigo and his friends Chad, Orihime, and Ishida find themselves tormented by Lirin, Kurodo, and Nova, three nasty, game-playing spirits. Content is the same as the separate Series 4 releases (see the related content box to the left for reviews).

Tokyo Gore School - DVD (£15.99 RRP) - A barebones release (anamorphic widescreen, Japanese audio and optional English subtitles). Here is the synopsis: For Fujiwara, everything seems to be going well - he is doing well in high school, he is good looking and also a good fighter. One day, he is suddenly attacked by a group of students without any provocation. He then discovers that there is a mysterious violent game being played out in the corridors and playgrounds of Tokyo’s high schools. The game is being spread virally via the students’ mobile phones! The victims are mysteriously hypnotized and become senseless killing machines. Fujiwara must fight for his survival and to discover the game’s terrifying secret."

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Volume 1 - DVD (£24.99 RRP) and Blu-ray (£34.99 RRP) - In 2003, the animated series based on Hiromu Arakawa’s best-selling manga ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’ made its debut and established itself as one of the most groundbreaking and successful anime series in history. However, the series’ original storyline differed from that of the manga in many ways. Now, a brand new anime series entitled Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood has been produced, faithfully following the story of the manga while retaining the artistic integrity, the brilliant characterization and stunning animation that made the first series such a hit with anime fans.

By the Will of Genghis Khan - DVD (£15.99 RRP) and Blu-ray (£19.99 RRP) – Details TBC but here is the synopsis: Epic historical adventure based on the life of Genghis Khan, fearless warrior and founder of the Mongol Empire in the twelfth century. Beginning with his birth and early childhood, the film goes on to trace the troubled relationship between Khan (Eduard Ondar) and his brother Jamuka (Orgil Makhaan), and shows how Khan exhausted all peaceful solutions and attempts at negotiation before finally unleashing the sword to unite the many warring tribes in his domain.
