LOTR The Two Towers LE Collector’s DVD Gift Set - Announcement and artwork

New Line Home Cinema have officially announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Limited Edition Collector’s DVD Gift Set for 18th November 2003 with a retail price of $72.95. This gift set will not only include the Special Extended Edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, but will also feature a specially created Gollum as “Sméagol” sculpture and an exclusive bonus DVD and Companion Book. The DVD includes an over 20-minute look at the creation of the Sméagol sculpture, as well as other The Lord of the Rings collectibles, from the art design to the final sculpt from the artists at Weta Workshop, the same designers responsible for the stunning visual effects seen in The Lord of the Rings films. The companion book consists of the “Art of Gollum” from The Two Towers, which features original sketches and examines the process of creating the character of Gollum.


This must-have for The Lord of the Rings enthusiasts will feature the entire four-disc Special Extended Edition, with the new version of the film with 43 minutes of footage seamlessly integrated into the feature on the first two discs with two additional discs with brand new extras featuring documentaries, galleries and interactivity and will be housed in an elaborate box with art conceived and designed exclusively for the gift set by famed artist Alan Lee. Contained in each Gift Set will be a hand-painted, full-color, polystone Gollum as “Sméagol” collectible sculpted by Weta workshop under the supervision of Peter Jackson and Academy Award®-winning visual effects artist Richard Taylor. A certificate of authenticity accompanies the Gollum as “Sméagol” figurine, made exclusively for the boxed set.
