Lars von Trier's The Boss Of It All in June
From one of the world’s most controversial and fêted directors comes an office comedy!
Ravn is the seedy owner of an IT company who has invented a ‘Boss Of It All’ to take responsibility for all his unpopular decisions. When he decides to sell the company the buyers insist on dealing with the Boss and so Ravn decides to hire an actor to play the role. What could possibly go wrong?
The Boss Of It All sees von Trier return to his native Danish language as well as the introduction of a new filmmaking method, Automavision. According to the director "Automavision is a principle for shooting film (and recording the sound) developed with the intention of limiting human influence by inviting chance in from the cold and thus giving the work an 'idealess' surface free of the force of habit and aesthetics." This is achieved through the fixing of the camera in a set position to run through a series of randomly programmed manoeuvres. Through this process Lars Von Trier has created a hilarious comedy in his own inimitable fashion.
