Knives Out trailer: Rian Johnson channels Agatha Christie in his new murder mystery

After giving us one of the best films in the entire Star Wars franchise, Rian Johnson is now returning to the real world with Knives Out. Given the backlash he faced online (although offline it never happened) after The Last Jedi it's certainly an interesting title. Screaming online babies aside, he remains a director actors want to work with and that's proven with the cast he has assembled here. It has more than a touch of Agatha Christie about the whodunnit set-up (and Hitchcock according to Johnson) and the trailer makes it look like a lot of fun. See for yourself by watching the first Knives Out trailer above.

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.

Johnson also wrote the script, with the cast starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Lakeith Stanfield, Michael Shannon, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Toni Collette and Christopher Plummer.

Knives Out hits US cinemas on November 27, followed by the UK on Novebmer 29.
