Kingfisher to buy StreetsOnline

BBC News Online are reporting that the UK retail group Kingfisher are set to buy up a 85% share of major internet retailer StreetsOnline. The Kingfisher Group consists of a number of big players on the highstreet including Comet, Woolworths and MVC. It is the company's intention to create strong links between MVC and the StreetsOnline group of on-line stores which include DVD Street, Games Street and Audio Street. Ian Cheshire, e-Kingfisher chief executive, said "Streets Online will benefit greatly from its close links with MVC and the buying strength of Kingfisher". Quite how these events will affect customers of any of the StreetsOnline stores is unknown - however, it's obvious that they are already onto a winning formula and therefore it's difficult to envisage any major changes in the near future.
