Kin trailer: A mean James Franco hunts down two brothers

Even though you can't move for sci-fi films or TV shows nowadays the strength of ideas in many leave a lot to be desired. More quantity always lowers the quality I guess. Anyway, Lionsgate have a new summer sci-fi blockbuster on the way which goes by the name of Kin, although it looks like it relies on many of the same visual and story ideas we've seen a million times already, and going by the trailer it wouldn't look out of place with most of the content found on Netflix. Click the play button above and see what you make of the trailer for Kin.

This is the story of an unexpected hero destined for greatness. Chased by a vengeful criminal (James Franco) and a gang of otherworldly soldiers, a recently released ex-con (Jack Reynor) and his adopted teenage brother (Myles Truitt) are forced to go on the run with a weapon of mysterious origin as their only protection.

Brothers Jonathan Baker and Josh Baker write and direct the film, with a decent cast list also featuring Dennis Quaid, Zoe Kravitz, and Carrie Coon.

Kin hits US theatres at the end of August this year but no news on UK date just yet.
