Jurassic World sets the box office alight

Wow. It may be the fourth film following two lackluster installments but that hasn't stopped Jurassic World racing to the top of the box office and smashing records at the same time. In its opening weekend the total worldwide gross broke the $500 million ceiling and reached an impressive $511 million. It also made this the best weekend EVER in the US box-office with the film's $204.6 million in receipts helping the TOTAL spend in US cinemas hit $262 million - the previous best was $259.9 when Avatar was released back in 2009.

We're pretty sure that these number all but guarantee that we'll be seeing a fast-tracked sequel - and our money is on Colin Trevorrow returning to the helm.

We need your help

Running a website like The Digital Fix - especially one with over 20 years of content and an active community - costs lots of money and we need your help. As advertising income for independent sites continues to contract we are looking at other ways of supporting the site hosting and paying for content.

You can help us by using the links on The Digital Fix to buy your films, games and music and we ask that you try to avoid blocking our ads if you can. You can also help directly for just a few pennies per day via our Patreon - and you can even pay to have ads removed from the site entirely.
