Jóhann Jóhannsson’s final score to be released

Before his untimely death on February 9th, composer Jóhann Jóhannsson had completed work on several films. The last of these, his score for the horror film Mandy (2018), will be released by Lakeshore and Invada on September 14th in the US (hopefully the UK release won't be too far behind). The score was co-produced by Jóhannsson and Randall Dunn.

The film is directed by Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow), and stars Nicolas Cage as Red Miller, a man seeking vengeance on a cult, led by Linus Roache, after they ruin his life. Of Jóhannsson, the director had this to say:

Jóhann went above and beyond, and I suspect to the limits of his sanity, to make the music for this movie. His words and his actions made him more than a great collaborator, they made him like a brother to me. I’m sad our time together was so brief but I’m very proud of what he accomplished on Mandy and I believe he was too.
